With Rock Angel Chateau d'Esclans have taken rosé wines to the next level. Here is a wine worthy of serious attention that deserves to be considered on a par with the great French white wines. Patrick Léon who honed his winemaking skills at Mouton Rothschild has created a delightfully light pink very fresh wine that transcends the usual barriers restricting rose wines to simple aperitifs, Rock Angel has enough structure to be paired with food.
The extra complexity in the wine is achieved through batonage twice weekly over 5 months, this mixes the lees (yeasts) and the wine adding a depth of flavour. Resulting in a crisp and refreshing with a lovely smoky minerality complimenting the summer fruit flavours and a delicious creamy finish from the battonage.
