Pichon Lalande was one of the first Chateaux to produce a true second wine - Reserve de La Comtesse. A fine second wine, it is incredible value for those looking for an outstanding, supple drink from one of the most respected Chateaux in Bordeaux but which is a bit more approachable when younger. A great style of wine with its soft, silky tannins, luscious fruits, expressive aromatics and long, character driven finish. Give it a decade in the cellar before popping a bottle.
Principal flavours of blackberry, liquorice, earth, coffee, black cherry and herbs followed by chocolate, cherry, and even fennel on the palate. Drink 2016 to 2024. Clarets are wines that pair best with red meats, game or hard cheeses and this ridiculously good value wine would be perfect with any of these.
