A wonderful hidden gem! Quinta do Vesuvio is known to be THE premium estate in the Douro Valley, only producing the wines in outstanding years. As a result the name is synonymous with fantastic quality and rarity. Until recently only Vintage Port was produced at this mythical Quinta, however they have now started producing two incredible red wines. Pombal is the second of these and can only be described as a hidden gem of fantastic value for money.
Approachable younger than the Quinta do Vesuvio, the Pombal regardless still shows amazing concentration and complexity with juicy blackberry and plum flavours complimented with some cinnamon and even cedar notes creating a perfectly rounded wine which will be greatly admired at any dinner party. The wine is named Pombal after the iconic dove cote which sits beautifully on one the Quinta's hills.
