2014 was a tough year for Burgundy. Earlier in the year hail decimated the on top of this wild boars ate their way through much of the remaining crop! However, a cool summer allowed the surviving grapes to develop perfectly and maintain a lovely freshness and elegance.
This is a great example of Pinot Noir. Elegant and perfectly balanced, the 14-16 months of oak aging comes through as lovely soft woody notes, complementing the concentrated flavours and aromas of black cherry, raspberry and tobacco smoke after tones perfectly.
The perfectly integrated tannins give a great structure on the palate and contribute to the enduring length of this top wine. Drink now but will continue to age well for the next 4 years at least. Wagyu beef would make an unforgettable pairing.
