One of Guigal's famed 'La Las' the most sought after wines from the Rhône valley and indeed the world. La Turque along with La Landonne and La Mouline are three of the finest wines money can buy. La Turque could be described as a combination of the other two La Las. It is bigger and more tannic than La Mouline but doesn't achieve the supreme power, structure and weight of La Landone. This is a lean muscly concentrated superstar.

Jeb Dunnuck of the Wine Advocate sums up La Turque perfectly: On this showing, the 2010 La Turque was incredible, in a lineup of incredible wines. Offering off-the-chart notes of cassis, blackberry, aged beef, chocolate, crushed rock and exotic flowers, it flows onto the palate with a massive, full-bodied feel that carries ultra-fine tannin, awesome depth and a blockbuster finish. Syrah, or wine for that matter, doesn't get any better. Give this monumental Côte Rôtie 5-6 years and enjoy it over the following 2-3 decades.

E.Guigal

When Etienne Guigal first arrived at the tiny village of Ampuis, he was totally captivated by both the beauty of the region and the quality of the wines. At just 14, he began to work in the vineyards for Vidal-Fleury, at the very centre of the Côte-Rôtie appellation, which have been deservedly famous for 2,400 years. He left to found the Giugal Estate in 1946 and which with his enormous talent he built into a huge success, eventually buying Vidal-Fleury the company he had started out with. A true rags to riches story!

Now in the third generation of the Giugal family, the estate now owns some of the finest vineyards in Côte-Rôtie. On land originally planted by the Romans, Guigal’s light-touch approach to viniculture allows them to maximise their land, which can be considered amongst the finest terroir in France.
