One of Guigal's famed 'La Las' the most sought after wines from the Rhone valley and indeed the world. La Turque along with La Landonne and La Mouline are three of the finest wines money can buy.

The most masculine of the three La La's, and takes much longer than the other La La wines to mature, but also lasts longer. It also shows the most minerality along with blackberry, grilled meat, spice, tobacco and truffle. As with its two stable mates La Landonne was awarded an impressive 100 points by Robert Parker and Jeb Dunnuck is the man to put the amazing sensory experience to words: As with the other two single-parcel Cote Roties, the 2010 Cote Rotie La Landonne is pure perfection in a glass.

An incredibly massive, muscular, full-bodied effort, it has an insane amount of structure to go with an equal amount of concentrated fruit. Cassis, smoked bacon, coffee bean, cracked pepper and liquid rock-like qualities are all present here, and it hits the palate with a chiseled, focused textured, building tannin and terrific length. It's the most backward of the 2010s and will require a decade of cellaring, but will keep for about as long as you'd like to hold onto bottles.

E.Guigal

When Etienne Guigal first arrived at the tiny village of Ampuis, he was totally captivated by both the beauty of the region and the quality of the wines. At just 14, he began to work in the vineyards for Vidal-Fleury, at the very centre of the Côte-Rôtie appellation, which have been deservedly famous for 2,400 years. He left to found the Giugal Estate in 1946 and which with his enormous talent he built into a huge success, eventually buying Vidal-Fleury the company he had started out with. A true rags to riches story!

Now in the third generation of the Giugal family, the estate now owns some of the finest vineyards in Côte-Rôtie. On land originally planted by the Romans, Guigal’s light-touch approach to viniculture allows them to maximise their land, which can be considered amongst the finest terroir in France.
