No cellar would be complete without Madeira and this 1968 Bual is a rare treat. Buals are at the mid level of sweetness for Madeiras and create dark, rich, raisiny wines. This is a perfect aged example with delicious flavours of toffee, tangerine rind, vanilla, chocolate and oak. No cellar would be complete without island of Madeira in the Atlantic.
Historically it was an important supply station for sailors and through this was transported across the globe gaining a wide market from the UK to Japan. The wines would age in the hulls of ships where the high temperatures would accelerate the aging process and caramelise the sugars. To recreate these conditions the wines are today aged in the lofts of the merchants' lodges.
