Karasakiz is incredibly rare ' barely 50 hectares of this grape exist in the whole of Turkey. Grown on Mount Ida very near the ruins of ancient Troy, the name Karasakiz translates, rather unusually, as 'black chewing gum'. Despite this, as the vineyard is at 550 metres it is a far lighter wine than the name would suggest! In fact, this delicious wine is light to medium-bodied and cherry red. It has a lovely scent of red fruits, flowers and a hint of spices. Despite being relatively light the flavours are excellent. The juicy cherry and dried figs flavours are backed up perfectly by spices from the oak, whilst the wine has enough tannin texture to give it a wholesome shape. A really fun wine!
